My antique chandelier has a middle light and 5 lower lights and turns on and off with a wall switch. But there is a switch on the chandelier itself that lets you have just the middle light on, or the middle light and three of the lower lights, or the
These are still very common switches and a better quality lighting showroom should be able to get you one. I rewire a number of fixtures every year that have that type of switch. If you can't find one e-mail me and you can get one thru me.
