How to drill a hole in a porcelain-enameled cast iron kitchen sink?
Has anyone successfully drilled a hole for a soap dispenser in a porcelain enameled cast iron sink? It would need to be about 11/2" diameter. I can't imagine it's easy even if it can be done.
Thanks for your help.
go to wally mart and buy a plastic soap dispenser and place it next to the sink
if you cannot afford to buy a sink with the built in hole, what makes you think you can make a hole in something with no experience?

These new-style cast-iron laundry sinks are commonly called "utility sinks" and can be wall-mounted or self-rimming countertop sinks. Because they are of enameled cast iron, these sinks also resist scratching and staining for years of beauty. Included in such rooms are places for folding clothes, air-drying racks and large sinks for soaking delicate clothes. I'm planning on nice cabinets, big windows and even a flat-screen TV. With all this going on, I don't want to install a plastic tub for my laundry sink. What's the latest trend in nice laundry sinks. A: Laundry rooms are quickly becoming "second kitchens" in many homes. From the new colorful and stylish washer/dryer units to custom granite countertops, the true "laundry room" has arrived.

It's a lot of waste to get rid of. I read about the Pfaltzgraff porcelain cleaner -- that works on porcelain sinks, too -- a real sore spot in our otherwise-loved kitchen. The problem is not that the dishes or sink is scratched,as I had thought. I'm a bit embarrassed to show what my daily-use plates looked like (see top plate in image). I was almost at the point of replacing them and was browsing the Pfaltzgraff Web site since I really liked the durability and flexibility of these dishes. It is that the silverware leaves a stain on the porcelain when it scrapes against it. It just needs a specialized cleaner (bleach doesn't work. These were well-loved Pfaltzgraff dishes given to us at our wedding -- in 1995. And porcelain cleaner go a long way. Liked the price....

Once I dragged the new counters and sink into the house, it only took me a couple minutes to realize the 50 year old cabinets would look even more dated squatting beneath newness. I'd replace the countertops and sink and call it good. I've flicked back the living room carpet like a matador's cape to let the red-oak floor beneath live again. And the 20-year-old fridge would be an antique next to new cabinets. I've been picking at the house for 12 years now, scraping off the barnacles to coax out the warm character hidden beneath.
