How do I clean an antique quilt?
My 91-year-old grandmother has been sensing the end of her time here for a few years now and has tried to give away to her family everything of value she owns. This weekend she gave me and my wife a quilt that was handmade by my great, great, great grandmother
You will NOT be cleaning this quilt - at least, you won't be getting any stains out. The fabrics are too old and fragile for any cleaning other than dust removal, and even that is a delicate business involving a screen and a vacuum.

Movers got ink from our printer on a handmade quilt- what is the best way to try to clean it.?
The quilt is NOT antique. Hand wash or dry clean?
BTW- The people are Carbona said they don't make a product that could help me :(

Antique mall has treasures for everyone
"Handmade quilts are always collectable whether they're antique or not," she said. Antiques are also available at the aptly named Antique Mall, Moore said. Quilts can also be obtained from dealers at the South Charleston location. CHARLESTON, W. Va. - It may not have soup or nuts, but the South Charleston Antique Mall has a treasure trove of merchandise available for just about any taste. The antique mall located at 617 D Street has been operating out of its three-story building since 2005, said co-owner Velma Moore. Blenko and Fenton glassware are both available at the antique mall as are numerous different types of primitive furniture, she said. Unique items such as yearbooks from area schools can also be obtained at the South Charleston store.
Longmont woman's 200-year-old quilt collection puts 'face and place' on history
LONGMONT -- The cream-colored quilt covered in colorful lilies was so beloved that the family folded it into a wooden box and buried it in their backyard to spare it from falling into enemy hands. The Pope family, whose land turned into a battleground, buried their family quilt in the ground for safekeeping before they fled. Longmont resident Jeananne Wright bought the quilt at a Denver antique show in January 1996. Out of a collection of more than 600 quilts dating from 1811 through the present day, that's saying something. Occasionally, a small duck pinfeather wrestles free and pokes through the quilt top. While it was buried -- no one knows for sure how long it was before the family returned to dig it up -- rain seeped through the box and caused the colors to run, leaving behind coffee-colored stains. On March 6, 1862, Union forces marched into Pea Ridge, Ark.
THE COMFORT OF OLD THINGS
The quilt is handmade and handquilted. Several years ago, I was at a garage sale and saw a beautiful quilt for sale. I wondered how many family members that quilt covered throughout the years. She told me that her family didn't want it. The quilt was made my her grandmother. The quilt now is in my living room where I can admire it and enjoy it.
