Lower temperatures mean lower humidity. Consumer Reports takes a look at humidifiers to see if they can help. Find more information on humidifiers ...
I'm interested to buy a humidifier called: Hunter Care-free warm mist humidifier. This specific product has been recalled due to potential fire hazard. There are 4 reports from consumers of minor property damage from water leaking to the electrical components
There are several good humidifiers on the market that do not have that problem. Shop around a little or contact Consumers Reports for a list of recomended brands and models
You can lso contact a local HVAC company that sells and installs humidifiers

CMHC reports that houses today are so energy efficient that "out-gassing" of chemicals has no where to go, so it builds up inside the home. The average home today contains 62 toxic chemicals - more than a chemistry lab at the turn of the century....

So researchers have to rely on imprecise measurements, such as asking people to rate their symptoms on a scale. There's no objective way to assess whether something makes someone feel less congested or sneezy, Taylor says. And many studies are of such poor quality as to be unreliable, he says. That's partly because big drug companies tend not to invest in studies of common foods or products that people can buy anywhere....
